Shape, hardness, and finish on these pads decide how load spreads across a thin wall, how the part seats against a face, and how long the contact keeps its geometry during daily use. Good pads make an inner assembly feel calm under cut. Poor pads turn the same unit jumpy.

Small details matter. A lead-in radius helps the part slide onto the pad without a nick. Relief grooves carry chip dust away. Coolant finds a path that does not wash grit into the clamp. When the pad wears, operators release two screws, swap the pad, and get back to cutting without a long stop.
